EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT
graduated from the Leningrad State University in 1985, defending his diploma work on structure, biochemistry and proliferation of mesoglea cells in sea anemones and scyphoid jellyfishes. He received his PhD (“Kandidat Nauk”) in Botany from the Komarov Botanical Institute in 1989, when he defended his thesis on wood anatomy of Araliaceae. From 1995 to 1996 he worked as postdoc at the Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products in Hamburg (Germany). He received his DSc from the Highest Attestaton Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2011
MEMBERSHIP IN SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITIES
member of the Russian Botanical society (RBO), International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA), and St.Petersburg Association of Scientists and Scholars. He sits also on the Council of Interregional Society of Researchers (Russia); in 2014-2015 and 2017-2018 he functioned as Co-Chairmen of this Society
